Diesel Emission Control

The key aspects of the work of the Diesel Emission Control are the development and application of innovative diesel emission control technologies through:

  • concept studies and simulations
  • system design and control strategy development
  • engine testing and calibration
  • preparation of demonstration vehicles
  • vehicle field testing

With health a primary concern, the application of diesel particulate filters is growing.

We are currently working on several technologies to secure regeneration of the diesel particulate filters. These include active regeneration by engine control such as air flow control, EGR control and fuel injection control, all of which focus on increasing exhaust gas temperature. Microwave and plasma assisted regeneration are also investigated.
