Tyre Testing
Improving tyre specifications requires knowledge of the tyre which can be obtained bymeasuring. In order to measure as securely as possible, we developed a unique, in-house built driving laboratory, the tyre test trailer.
This tyre test trailer will replace the former tyre test truck. The major advantage of having a tyre test trailer is that tyre performance can be measured at any road surface at almost any condition.
The vehicle is completely designed to measure the forces and moments that arise when placing a tyre on the road in various situations. In the new tyre test trailer it is now possible to replace the measurement towers in the centre of the trailer allowing special measuring setups to be mounted. By default, two towers are mounted. On one side there is a car tyre measurement setup, on the other side, there is a newly developed motorcycle tyre measurement setup, with the possibility to measure tyres at camber angles up to 70 deg.
Measuring tyres with our tyre test trailer is usually performed at proving grounds ATP in Germany or IDIADA in Spain, but can be done on any other testtrack if desired by the customer. We can facilitate in measuringtyres at any indoor facility of the customer’s choice.
Measurement data is delivered in a standardized format (TYDEX). Besides giving the input for our tyre fitting tool and subsequently our tyre models, the measurement facilities are also used for validation and benchmarking studies.
